Frequently Asked Questions about Therapy
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, and that’s okay. Here’s a quick guide to help you understand what to expect and decide what’s right for you.
Is therapy for me? I heard only people with “real” problems go to therapy.
Therapy is for anyone who wants a safe, nonjudgmental space to process their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply seeking personal growth, therapy can help. No problem is too small, and you don’t have to wait until things get “bad enough” to start taking care of your mental and emotional well-being.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
That’s okay, and you're not alone. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right therapist or approach. My style is compassionate, collaborative, and practical. We’ll work together to build something that feels right for you, without pressure or judgment. You deserve support that fits.
What can I expect in therapy?
Therapy is your space, one where you can speak freely, reflect deeply, and begin to heal without judgment. During our sessions, we’ll explore what’s going on in your life, identify patterns or challenges, and work toward realistic, meaningful goals. I’ll always meet you with compassion, but I’ll also gently challenge you when needed. Depending on your needs, we may use a mix of evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness practices, or faith-based techniques. Most importantly, I’ll walk with you at your pace, helping you build insight, resilience, and confidence along the way.
How long is a session?
Sessions are offered in 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute formats. We’ll decide what length works best based on your goals, availability, and attention needs. You can also adjust your session length as we go.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Many of my clients benefit from an 8-session program, particularly when they are actively engaged and committed to the process. Some people prefer ongoing support, while others come in for short-term guidance.
What matters most is finding a rhythm that works for you. Some clients prefer weekly sessions, while others move to biweekly or monthly after building momentum. We'll continuously check in on your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
How much does therapy cost?
My session rates range from $100 to $125, depending on session length and services provided. Please contact me directly if you have questions about:
-
EAP (Employee Assistance Programs)
-
Insurance coverage or out-of-network benefits
-
Superbills or documentation for reimbursement

Do you work with teens or children?
Yes. I offer individual therapy for clients ages 12 and up. Sessions for teens are focused on building trust, emotional expression, coping strategies, and confidence. For children under 12, I may offer guidance to parents or refer to a specialist if needed.
Do you offer couples therapy?
Yes, I currently offer faith-based couples therapy. This approach combines clinical guidance with biblical principles to help couples strengthen communication, rebuild trust, navigate grief or loss, and grow spiritually together. If you’re seeking support rooted in both therapeutic practice and shared faith values, this may be a great fit for you.
